Elaine is a North Cornwall based ceramic artist working from her garden studio creating small batches of marine inspired urchins and sculptures.
Having spent many years making wedding cakes and decorating them with hand made sugar flowers and delicate piping the same techniques transfer well to clay; especially paper clay.
Elaine uses Porcelain Paper Clay; the Porcelain is mixed with small paper fibers making a very strong and versatile medium which is very lightweight when fired.
All of Elaine’s work is made by hand using just a small number of hand held tools to make textures and patterns. Each little sculpture is a unique piece of art made up of intricate patterns and delicate textures; enhanced with the use of vibrant underglaze colour and beautiful reflective glazes.
